Health Center Regional Clinical Manager - West Region

 

The Health Center Regional Clinical Manager is responsible for creating a superior customer experience for our health center partners. The clinical manager directly oversees assigned clinical programs in order to manage the quality and execution at Health Center Pharmacies in a comprehensive, collaborative manner; is accountable for all activities of the assigned clinical programs. Responsible for communicating and escalating any program needs and status to the RVP of Operations. The clinical manager also provides educational and consultant services in the field of pharmacology and drug therapy to patients and professional staff in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.  Serves as a team leader for process improvement activities.  Provides educational development services to staff, serves medical staff to implement disease management guidelines, prepares outcome assessment reports, and helps clinic teams to optimize pharmacotherapy and prescription operational methods.  Supports clinics and pharmacies as assigned. Dispenses prescribed medications and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position):

1. Documents / maintains initial patient assessments, reassessments and care management plans in the electronic patient management program, e.g., Asembia, CPR Plus.
2. Assist in the generation, maintenance, and distribution of formulary alternative lists, maintenance drug lists, and new drug to market lists.
3. Assist in the development of clinical, utilization management, ad hoc and production reports and programs.
4. Generate and review standard monthly and quarterly reports, as required.
5. Ensures the appropriateness of all medication orders, new prescriptions or refills, in reference to the client’s
diagnosis, weight/body surface area, allergies, and drug interactions as evidenced by a review of the active medication profile, provider notes, and available pertinent laboratory information.
6. Conduct/Review Drug Utilization Reviews to check for drug duplication, interactions or allergies.
7. Examine and re-engineer clinical operations and procedures, developing and implementing policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
8. Review non-formulary drug requests using predetermined criteria.
9. Review prior authorization requests using predetermined criteria.
10. Contact and confer with physicians regarding questions or irregularities with prescription practice whenever safety or established alternatives have not been utilized.
11. Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies and appropriateness.
12. Provide drug information to meet the needs of medical and nursing staff members through direct contact or in-service programs.
13. Interpret and fill drug orders accurately and timely
14. Provide patient information and counseling.
15. Participate as an active member and facilitator in process improvement teams.
16. Provide individual and group training, in-services and other consultations to unit staff and providers to optimize therapy.
17. Work with medical directors and staff in developing and carrying out various clinical initiatives.
18. Attend and participate in other programs, committees, meetings, and functions as required.
19. Assist in formulary, rebate analyses and pharmacoeconomic studies and initiatives.
20. Perform retrospective drug utilization review: identify drug, physician, and patient utilization trends; make interventions as appropriate; monitor and document outcomes.
21. Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.
22. Supervise pharmacy technicians in the routine performance of their duties.
23. Participate in the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program.
24. Assist in overseeing clinical procedures.
25. Complete facility audits as assigned.
26. Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
27. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
28. Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
29. Comply with VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and VytlOne’s Compliance Program.
30. Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
31. Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.

Qualifications

 

Education: BS or Pharm. D. from an approved school of pharmacy. Current unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of employment is required.

Experience: Residency or 2 years post-graduate practice experience in similar roles or equivalent demonstrated experience in specialty pharmacy strongly preferred. Demonstrated self-motivation, strong leadership, team building abilities, and effective interpersonal communication.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Possesses an in-depth understanding of clinical program administration with experience in an account management, implementation, and operational support for a clinical program.
2. Demonstrated comprehensive in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical care, pharmacy systems, patient workflows, pharmacy operations regulations and industry best practices.
3. Skill in examining and re-engineering clinical operations and procedures, developing and implementing policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
4. General knowledge of quality improvement principles and procedures.
5. Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies and drug reactions and interactions by reading professional literature, attending seminars and through professional affiliations.
6. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing clinical team to achieve clinical targets and objectives.
7. Performance Management: Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
8. Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the pharmacy team to enhance their skills and performance.
9. Content Development: Working with the pharmacy teams, using client data, help draft content that can be used for initiative reporting and business reviews.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to ensure alignment and maximize sales opportunities.
11. Market Insights: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to inform clinical strategies and tactics.
12. Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
