Director of Outpatient Pharmacy TMH Specialty Pharmacy

 

VytlOne (formerly Maxor National Pharmacy Services) is seeking a highly competent, dynamic leader for their Director of Outpatient Pharmacy at TMH Specialty Pharmacy. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pharmacy professional with outpatient hospital/retail pharmacy management level experience to join an outstanding team of dedicated, caring and kind professionals. Maxor manages all of the JPS Health Network Pharmacies.

Job Summary

Oversees, plans, and directs all pharmacy activities, including clinical services, performance improvements, regulatory compliance, department metrics, dispensing, and the purchasing, receipt and storage of pharmaceuticals. Uses advance communication and project management skills to lead quality and efficiency improvement efforts. Projects may involve departments internal or external to pharmacy. Collaborates with upper level management in order to ensure the deliverance of high quality pharmacy services and safe, effective, and appropriate medication treatment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.  This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position):

 

  1. The Director of Outpatient Pharmacy will ensure the pharmacy provides optimal service, meets legal and accreditation/certification requirements, and complies with all policies and standards of VytlOne.
  2. Maintain daily operation of pharmacy department by supervising pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy clerks in the routine performance of their duties to maintain efficient and profitable operations, high customer service and exceptional patient care.
  3. Identifies and implements operational efficiencies and standardization
  4. Ensure the pharmacy is adequately staffed during all hours of operation.
  5. Schedule pharmacy staff for routine, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours.
  6. Serves as a role model while providing appropriate technical and customer service training for pharmacy staff.
  7. Maintain a neat and organized pharmacy at all times to support operational  efficiency
  8. Provide drug information to meet the needs of physicians and nurses through direct contact or in-service programs.
  9. Prepare various reports and maintain records or supervise the maintenance of records as required or requested by the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy.
  10. Responsible for identifying and implementing appropriate internal controls and mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance
  11. Maintain patient medication records.
  12. Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
  13. Provide patient information and counseling.
  14. Interpret and fill drug orders.
  15. Leverages technology and automated systems to optimize departmental efficiencies. Assures quality checks and balances are implemented and maintained
  16. Attend and participate in other programs, committees, meetings, and functions required by the pharmacy department. Serves as a subject matter expert and participates and/or leads as a pharmacy representative in quality improvement initiatives/projects.
  17. Participate in inventory control programs such as ordering, inventorying, and monitoring as required by the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy and ensures compliance with 340B program
  18. Assist withh the strategic plan, develops both long term and short term goals for the department and executes assigned goals
  19. Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.
  20. Promote effective communication and teamwork to support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals
  21. Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs and other drugs as required by law.
  22. Ensure the delivery of positive customer service and follow up on customer complaints.
  23. Participate in the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program.
  24.  Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  25. Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
  26. Comply with Maxor’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Maxor’s Compliance Program.
  27. Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  28. Complete required training and ensure the departmental staff training is completed as required.
  29. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  30. Ensure staff is informed of product upgrades or enhancements in a timely manner.
  31. Hire and train competent staff with a strong focus on customer service
  32. On a biweekly basis, verify departmental timesheets for departmental employees ensuring the timesheets are accurate based on the work-schedule and necessary corrections are done prior to Payroll submission.
  33. Develop and mentor departmental staff by providing career coaching; motivate departmental staff, individually and as a group; understand and support diversity; and establish an effective team.
  34. Timely completion of department performance appraisals and monthly reports  
  35. Responsible for staff retention, training, interviewing/hiring, salary changes, and development
  36. Promote teamwork; provide timely performance feedback and discipline staff when warranted.

 

Qualifications

 

Education:  Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.  PharmD is preferred.  Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Florida

 

Experience: Three years pharmacy experience.  Five years managerial experience preferred.

  14. Must be able to comply with the client’s occupational health protocols.
