VytlOne (formerly Maxor National Pharmacy Services) is seeking a highly competent, reliable, customer-focused full time Pharmacy Support Specialist. This position will be responsible for meeting all pharmacy operations support needs of the pharmacies within the company including: Managing training projects and documentation development for assigned applications, monitoring helpdesk and equipment needs, and general operations support. The Pharmacy Support Specialist will play a significant role in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that will enable employees to develop competence in the use of computer software and systems utilized by both clinical and non-clinical employees. This position is also responsible for maintaining positive relationships with not only the pharmacy staff, but the clinical, management, or hospital staff as an “ambassador” of VytlOne.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.  This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position):

  • Work in conjunction with the Operations Manager to assure compliance with service expectations and achievement of performance goals and objectives.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records/maintain records as requested or required.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver training programs for all levels of pharmacy personnel.
  • Coordinate training schedule with members of management.
  • Develop and maintain continual education support materials to assist the pharmacy staff in learning the specialized pharmacy systems.  These materials will be used for reference once training has been completed.
  • Confer with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and/or business technologies.
  • Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Frequently report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
  • Participates in the maintenance of corporate compliance and legal board of pharmacy inspection parameters.
  • Monitor methods used by employees for Guardian Rx and/or POS and make on the spot corrections when needed.
  • Assist employees with problems concerning “how to” perform specific tasks related to the pharmacy systems.
  • Assists with staff training and the implementation of processes related to meeting accreditation standards including requirements for Continuous Quality Improvement, Performance Improvement projects, Quality Management, and compliance with all accreditation standards.
  • Performs routine internal audits to monitor quality markers and various reporting metrics in order to improve pharmacy quality and audit performance and to maintain compliance with accreditation requirements.May serve as Performance Improvement Coordinator to support the pharmacy accreditation process for the pharmacy system and participates in all relevant discussions and meetings, which may include Performance Improvement, Quality Management, and/or Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED, some college coursework preferred
  • PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification) required
  • Minimum of 4 years of Pharmacy experience required
  • Previous pharmacy system training experience preferred
  • Any combination of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Must be detail oriented, be able to work independently, and must have solid self-motivation skills.
  • General knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices and procedures, pharmaceutical generic and trade names, general mathematics, personal computers.
  • Ability to use a computer to assess patient/drug information systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to interact with a wide variety of individuals to successfully provide optimal pharmacy support.
  • Ability to work with close attention to detail and minimal errors.  Must be alert, attentive, and precise.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of desktop computers, including Windows applications. 
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience typing prescriptions required.
  • Ability to assess needs related to pharmacy practices and systems and training programs and materials to target these needs.
  • Leadership skills to effectively direct trainees while in the training environment and ability to properly evaluate comprehension and application of subject material.
  • Must be able to react positively to change and help lead the way to include new developments in training targeted to both new and existing employees.
  • Must maintain current, Pharmacy Technician Certification and State Registration (if applicable).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Scheduling experience for less than 20 employees.
  • Experience in managing inventories.
  • Ability to develop and implement employee competency procedures.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy accreditation and certification requirements such as ACHC and URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation.
