Pharmacy Manager - JPS Central Fill Pharmacy - Fort Worth, TX

 

We are currently conducting a search for a highly skilled, strategic thinker who possesses strong leadership and customer service skills to manage the JPS Central Fill Pharmacy located in Fort Worth, TX.

Licensed for 578 beds, the network includes an acute care hospital and more than 40 community-based clinics, including 19 school-based clinics. John Peter Smith Hospital is home to Tarrant County’s first and only Level 1 Trauma Center, its only psychiatric emergency services site and has the largest hospital-based family medicine residency program in the nation. The JPS Correctional Pharmacy is one of a number of JPS pharmacies managed by Maxor National Pharmacy Services headquartered in Amarillo, TX.

 

Maxor National Pharmacy Services, headquartered in Amarillo, TX manages the JPS Central Fill Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Manager, a Maxor employee, is a competent, dynamic leader who is responsible for the coordination of patient services within the pharmacy and supervision of pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. This document in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position):

 

1. Assist the Director of Pharmacy to ensure the pharmacy provides optimal service, meets legal

and accreditation/certification requirements, and complies with all policies and standards of

Maxor National Pharmacy Services Corporation.

2. Overseeing and guiding a large, diverse team to achieve departmental and organizational

goals. This includes setting clear objectives, providing direction, and fostering a collaborative

and high-performance culture.

3. Ensure the pharmacy is adequately staffed during all hours of operation.

4. Schedule pharmacy staff for routine, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours for regular

pharmacy staff as well as overseeing float pool schedules, ensuring coverage at various JPS

pharmacy locations

5. Oversees the daily operations of the pharmacy call center, ensuring that all inbound and

outbound calls are handled efficiently, professionally, and with a high level of customer

service

6. Understanding of 340B drug pricing program criteria to ensure compliance in medication

dispensation

7. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy mail order services, ensuring efficient,

accurate, and compliant delivery of medications to patients

8. Provide appropriate technical and customer service training for pharmacy staff.

9. Drive employee engagement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture, align with

organizational goals, and enhance team collaboration.

10. Review and update established drug-therapy guidelines and other policies and procedures, in

conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy, for use by physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.

11. Provide drug information to meet the needs of physicians and nurses through direct contact

or in-service programs.

12. Prepare various reports and maintain records or supervise the maintenance of records as

required or requested by the Director of Pharmacy.

13. Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies and drug reactions and interactions by reading

professional literature, attending seminars and utilizing professional affiliations.

14. Maintain patient medication records.

15. Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.

16. Provide patient information and counseling.

17. Interpret and fill drug orders.

18. Compound, prepare I.V. admixtures (if applicable), and dispense prescriptions.

19. Participate in inventory control programs such as ordering, inventorying, and monitoring as

required by the Director of Pharmacy.

20. Work Inventory Reports to maintain inventory and turns.

21. Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.

22. Attend and participate in other programs, committees, meetings, and functions required by

the pharmacy department.

23. Contact and confer with physicians regarding questions or irregularities on prescriptions.

24. Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs and other drugs as required by law.

25. Ensure the delivery of positive customer service and follow up on customer complaints.

26. Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Successful candidates will possess the following education and experience necessary for this position:

 

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current Texas Pharmacist license

 Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of central fill or mail order management experience;
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Prior knowledge of local, state, and federal accrediting body and OSHA rules and regulations preferred.
